Mean Green Juice Recipe
Joe Cross Mean Green Juice Recipe
One of the most famous juice recipe right now is the Mean Green Juice by Joe Cross. If you have seen the documentary “Fat Sick and Nearly Dead“, then you’ll know why.
If you haven’t seen the movie, I absolutely recommend it. Also, I recommend the Breville iKon Juicer if you are thinking about starting to juice.
In the movie, Joe Cross, and later on, Phil Staples, both start their day with this amazing green juice recipe.
Green juices are generally considered much more healthier because green plants pack more nutrients and doesn’t have the excess fruit sugar.
Mean Green Juice Recipe

First, you will want to buy organic if you can. Especially the celery and the apple. They rank among the top for most pesticide applied.
If you can’t find organic apples, go ahead and peel the skin. And don’t forget to core the apples as well (both organic and non-organic).
If you are using organic lemon, go ahead and juice it with the skin on. If not, peel the skin.
If you are a complete beginner, it’s ok to add an extra apple, and subtract two kale leaves. Once you get used to the taste, go back to the original recipe.
A Little Variety
Now, if you are just starting out, stick to the recipe. Make things easier; take the thinking out of it.
But, for the times when you don’t have all the ingredients, or if you want to change things up a bit, go ahead and get creative.
It is actually recommended you don’t drink the same juice over and over again. You want to add other vegetables to get the complete spectrum of nutrients.
Instead of lemon, you can use lime. This is a GREEN juice after all. Leave the skin on if using organic lime, otherwise, peel.
Instead of kale, you can use Swiss chard, collard greens, or spinach. When you are ready to get a little fancy, add some fresh basil, parsley, or cilantro. Fresh herbs adds great flavor and can really kick your juice recipe up a notch!
Just make sure when you are using herbs, don’t go overboard, they can be quite powerful. Also, roll them up tightly with the leafy greens. It’ll get the maximum amount of juice.
If you are looking for more recipes, there are couple of good books I’d recommend. The first one is The Healthy Green Drink Diet. It focuses on green juice and green smoothie recipes.
The second, is the Big Book Of Juices. It has over 400 recipes, both green, fruits, mixed, and smoothie.
They both received amazing reviews, and you can’t go wrong with either.
